Changing My Mind

I found this streaming media of Dr. Joe Dispenza explaining some of the difficulty in using affirmations to make changes in your life due to the structure and development of the brain and the interference of the subconscious, and other things.... genes, chemistry, evolution, etc.

Hmmmm............

katherine, i'm about 1/3 the way through and it is very interesting indeed. I can't wait to hear how he tells us to open that door to the subconscious mind to reprogram...! Thanks for sharing!

Hi rgmb,

You're welcome. I liked the part about the Atlanta Braves changing their batting average.

My curiosity is peaked here. I must listen to this.

Hi Zataod,

I'd like to hear what you think.

katherine, I just finished the entire interview and it was fascinating. Do you have any idea about how one is to unlock that subconscious mind changing, genetic expression over time and space changing, door? Repetition seemed to be the key, but my guess was that something is to be repeated, but somehow I missed what. Is it creative visualization, is it a different from of verbal expressions, what is it that we're supposed to do? And all of this is to be done I guess in a subconscious state?

rgmb,

That is a huge topic.

The subconscious, which is wonderful in that it regulates all your automatic systems for you (breathing, heartbeat, language, etc.) while you're busy doing other things, can be highly suggestible and may pick up beliefs and habits throughout life which need to be brought to conscious awareness in order to change. Until Awareness is engaged, with much diligence, many people seem to go through life on auto pilot not having any understanding of why they live the way they do, or think what they think, hold certain values, make judgements and so on. This causes conflict when trying to use positive affirmations, or visualizations, that may contradict the negative beliefs lodged in the subconscious.

There are various schools engaged in this kind of work and my guess is that Dr. Joe Dispenza is referring to some processes of one of them.

hi katherine,

You described the foundation very well, and that's what I actually understood in his interview, however, it's the tools that I need to unlock the door to the automatic system. I guess I'll check out his website for more details.

thanks again. :)
